The Second Wave

Future comes now and in the next second - like waves; while the photography stays at the depth where the wave no longer moves the water particles.

This depth is equal to about one half the distance between me and my grandfather. The distance between us is called a wavelength.

Thousands come to the cemetery for Hrobky (Memorial Day) to commemorate their departed relatives, to get blessed, to celebrate life... It’s a wonderful tradition, isn't it?

2017, experimental doc, 17'

Mom is feeding great tits from the window of her high-rise building in Mariupol, and growing queen apples in her summerhouse near the battle line. To show her simple life, she shoots videos on her small camera for her daughter, who lives in the capital and is hard to reach.

2014, doc, 9'

A young Orthodox priest, fed up with too much intolerance and hypocrisy at the Kyiv Pechery Lavra, decides to leave his service there. He finds for himself a new flock: gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people as well as those living with HIV/AIDS.

Expedition

The film opens a Pandora box, digs deep and reveals secrets about the archaeology of the present-daylife of Kyiv. It is about a repetitive cycle of finding and neglecting objects and histories, as well as about the way to release from this cycle.

Fragments of Ice

2023, doc, 80'

My father, a Soviet ballet dancer on ice, went on tour to the West and filmed during the crucial period of the 80s and 90s. Rediscovering our family archive, I tell the story of Ukrainian society growing up - between the “Western paradise" and the troubles of the USSR.
